GENERAL
Q: Can I post a link to your comic on my blog or website?
A: Sure you can. It's much appreciated when you tell your friends and spread the word about
Stuff Sucks! There are optional banner images to use on the Extras page.
Q: How do I join the Rock Nerds gallery?
A: Email me a picture of you or a friend, showing off any type of Stuff Sucks merch! Large and un-edited photographs are preferred, and keep
in mind that the images all entries on the website are vertical. I love
seeing pictures like this one too, but they won't fit the Rock Nerds page.
Q: Does it creep you out if I read your LiveJournal or add you on MySpace?
A: Not at all. I joined these communities as a way to keep in touch with my readers. But if you want to be guaranteed a written response, the best thing to do is send an email.
Q: When will you be visiting a comics event near me?
A: You can find all details about this on the Tour page! If you want me to visit a specific event that you will be attending, go ahead and suggest it to me.
Q: Can I submit a drawing I made of you or one of your characters?
A: Fanart brings me an absurd amount of joy! The gallery is always open, be my guest.
COMIC PROCESS
Q: How long does it take you to make each comic?
A: From start to finish, by average 3 hours. This breaks down into 30 minutes of writing,
2 hours of drawing, and another 30 minutes of shading and lettering.
Q: What drawing tools or medium do you use?
A: The comics are drawn digitally, with a Wacom tablet in Adobe Photoshop.
Q: How much time has actually passed in the story?
A: I honestly don't know, perhaps a week or two. Your guess is as good as mine.
Q: What is your routine for jotting down a comic?
A: At first I drew my comic every Sunday morning as a hang-over therapy. But lately I have
been drawing them in advance, on Saturday or even Friday. Hopefully this will prove to be a change for
the best.
Q: How do you choose lay-outs and angles?
A: I make thumbnail sketches and try different things until I find something that looks and feels right to me.
Some panels are sketched out 4 or 5 times before I find a lay-out that works!
Q: Why write comics in English instead of your native language?
A: English and Dutch are both my native language. I prefer writing in English because I find it has
a richer vocabulary, and because it makes my stories accessible to many more people.
SHOPPING
Q: What is the delivery time on a t-shirt if I order today?
A: Within the US and Canada, less than 10 days. To the rest of the world, 2 or 3 weeks.
Q: What is the delivery time on anything else if I order today?
A: Within the UK and Europe, less than 10 days. To the rest of the world, 2 or 3 weeks.
Q: How do you print and distributes your t-shirts?
A: Stuff Sucks t-shirts are printed by Brunetto and then distributed in Massachusetts, USA.
Q: When will there be new paintings for sale?
A: The next time I have an afternoon free and I'm near starvation. Not having money for lunch can free up an afternoon just like that.
PERSONAL
Q: What do you do to make your hair look like that?
A: Nothing. It looks this way largely due to laziness.
Q: Who are your favorite bands? What type of music do you listen to?
A: This changes all the time! If you want to know what I have under my headphones at any given time, get in touch. Some favorite genres are rock, indie, hiphop, soul, and alternative.
Q: Any plans to continue drawing Weirdism comics?
A: Currently no.
Q: What do you get up to in your spare time?
A: My goal is to get out and see at least a few bands live every week, as it has been since age fifteen. I love spending hours a day at the library, browsing or doing research. Going nuts at the gym three times a week keeps me strong! Sometimes I make paintings for art shows. Dancing is another of my favorite things. If I wasn't so opposed to the ways of the industry, I might have become a dancer.
Q: So, a dancer huh?
A: Not that kind of dancer.
To be continued...
